mcdo hopping

it took three mcdo stores before i finally satisfied my craving for a big mac and chicken mcnuggets!

after work, kim and i went to the buendia store at corner chino roces. i was comfortably seated already when kim came back from the queue, pulled me up from my chair and told me we'd just go to the mcdo along ayala avenue. when i asked him why, he just gave me the i'd-tell-you-outside look. once outside, kim told me that our reason to transfer was the nonpinoy family who came in the store after us. kim said the presumed dad came in line behind him and he instantly smelled something fishy (if you know what i mean). he then spotted the rest of the family headed toward the table next to where i was seated so he came to my rescue.

the next mcdo we passed by was beside the krispy kreme across the pbcom tower in ayala. but they did not have the big mac! why?!

finally, we ended up at the mcdo across the ayala triangle.

let's share

i just realized how much i like sharing everything with kim. remember my sonja cupcakes yesterday? despite my pseudo hunger pangs, i just couldn't eat them without feeling guilty. it was as if he was watching my every bite with his puppy eyes. so i ended up eating half of each cupcake and taking home the other halves as pasalubong for him. i know. i should have just ordered for him as well but he still found the gesture sweet so... girlfriend points for me! :)

in simple moments like this, i am reminded of  how very lucky i am to have already found the one person in the world to share all the cupcakes in the world (or my whole life, and lifetimes even) with. <3

if you're anemic and you know it

you should see your doctor! :)

as for anemic me, she takes ferrous sulfate (recommended: iberet, 500mg) with her vitamin c in order for her body to absorb the iron faster.

if your doctor tells you to take this combo, be warned. because apparently, doing so may also increase your appetite (in my case, i'm having unusual cravings for everything sweet). so expect feeling hungry 24/7. i kid you not.

check out what i bought the last time i heard my stomach grumbling:

cupcakes by sonja: red velvet vixen & chocolate surprise

so i guess, you should consider monitoring your food intake as well. and your budget! XD

sweet september week

i think my sugar level just hit a record-high this week. i've never ingested/experienced this much sweetness in a week! (^_^)

kim and i had krispy kreme for merienda for three days straight. between the two of us, kim is the one with a sweet tooth but i just had the same sweet cravings this week. i've just developed an addiction to mister donut's donuts n' dip (belgian chocolate). i also found myself nibbling haw-haw milk candy or mik-mik sweetened milk powder while at work.

i finished these in one sitting

in addition, i've been eating with pms-like takawness. i've been cooking a lot this week. my menu included chicken curry, sweet and sour chicken and sweet chili chicken (i just invented the recipe for this last one, hehehe).

last wednesday, i finished an order of pesto pasta and fries with dip at nyfd before watching resident evil: afterlife in 3d. on normal non-pms days, i never finish my food! then on friday, kim and i tried yellow cab's dear darla pizza and baked potato wedges at glorietta 5. both are yummy and worth a repeat.

and then yesterday, we had shakey's bunch of lunch and mojos for dinner at market!market!

after dinner, i still wanted to have sbarro's grandma's pizza and baked sitti in white sauce or one of kenny's healthy meals or tokyo-tokyo's tonkatsu sumo meal or pancake house's taco, that one with lots of onions. but i know my hunger was pointless, takaw-tingin as the elders would say, so i just diverted my attention to the huge fullybooked store in high street. there are just way too many stick-on notes, stickers, notebooks, 2011 calendars and bookmarks (and, of course, books, but i stayed away from the shelves because i still have eight new books on my to-be-read pile) that i didn't realized i've been scavenging for more than two hours! here be a photo of my loot (worth around P1.2k):

also, another sweet thing, i've cleaned ALL of my footwear and organized them (stored in boxes because i don't have enough space for a rack). i've set aside a few pairs to be given away this christmas.

oh, and flowers, at krispy kreme high street.

all this sweetness, i love it! i'm gaining weight? y/y?

p.s. sorry for the photo quality as my digicam has just been re-admitted to the service center, this time due to a problem on the flash. i'm currently drooling over this so if you have any leads please do drop me a note and i'll love you forever.

p.p.s. i have a new blog [travels for two].

shoes, makeup, books, doughnuts

i always rant about not getting anything on store sales most of the time but when i have nothing else to do, i still go and try my luck. so last friday, i tagged kim to the kickoff of the three-day big big sale of asia at sm mall of asia and i was really happy i did because i got to buy a lot of stuff. it surely was one of my lucky days! (^_^)

these shoes make me feel pretty girly, hehehe. the purple one was from cmg (P649) and the red one was from celine (P499).

my hormones might be really kicking in because i also ended up buying new makeup (P1.5k+) for my kikay kit. don't you just love the origami design of the powder/foundation case?

we also went to the manila international book fair at the smx convention center. i bought four books (P1,363.25) at the national book store which earned me two prizes: a tumbler and a sharpie.

before going home, i treated kim at krispy kreme because he was a very good shopping buddy (as always). spot the bottles of orange juice. we are trying to minimize (and hopefully someday eliminate) our coke intake. :)

we weren't able to watch the pyromusical show that night because i was already too tired (plus i got my period - okay, overshare, hehe) and we still have to meet my girls later that night.

also posting this photo of mushroom stick-on notes and paris-themed notepad, both from the landmark.

p.s. i have a new blog [cooking for two].

111th monthsary

the 14th this month fell on a tuesday and i was at work until 9 p.m. so kim and i weren't able to take a 7:38 p.m. photo together. i just took a photo of myself and sent it to him. he replied saying he also took a picture of himself but he didn't know how to send mms using his new phone. when we met after my shift, he showed me his 7:38 p.m. photo and he was topless! i told him: i was able to write a note for my photo and you couldn't even put a shirt on? and he said, well i took a shower before taking that photo!

we were supposed to catch the last full show of resident evil: afterlife but it still wasn't on in 3d at greenbelt so we just had dinner at california pizza kitchen in glorietta 3. we had five cheese and tomato pizza and chicken milanese. after that, we went to the coffee bean and tea leaf at greenbelt 3 for some caffeine fix in between our doodle pool tournament.

a fun lovely night in its simplicity <3

kim and i spent friday together doing our own projects: graphic novel (his) and jewelry (mine). thinking about it, it was quite a nice scene, hehe. we went to tgif for dinner after.

thursdate, fridate, saturdate

it was a rainy thursday...

photofunia

and we didn't have any plans. so we thought of catching the last full show of despicable me in 3d at greenbelt. the film was cute alright but there's nothing really spectacular to it.

waiting for our nyfd

friday was gift-shopping day. before starting mall-hopping, we had our favorite combo for lunch - big mac and chicken nugget meals. we each eat half of the meals.

first stop was glorietta and then landmark, where i got angel this cute dress.

we also went to greenbelt before heading to sm megamall. i dropped by the payless shoe store and i love how the shoes are displayed according to size. i got myself this pair:

P995

our last stop was robinsons galleria. finding a pink rocking carrier for aya was really a challenge. i was losing hope already and i can tell kim was too tired for another mall. i treated him to merienda at krispy kreme, where over dougnuts, i decided to go for the apple green carrier and just buy a pink carrier cover.

beside my gift for aya

later, we headed back to glorietta and had dinner at cpk as reward for a successful gift-shopping day!

bbq chicken with applewood smoked bacon pizza

on saturday, i brought my nephew to mcdo for dinner. kim drove us. rajah was so happy.

big boy na! i made him buy pringles and coke for our study session later that night.

my dream job

it has been one year since i got my dream job - that is to be part of the newspaper. apparently, i have been very vocal about this dream and i realized it only when people i know on facebook would congratulate me upon learning that i now work for the newspaper. they even know that i never wanted to be a reporter but a research assistant! their reactions are all just variations of "wow! isn't that your dream job? congrats!" and "good for you, you got your dream job!" amazing.

but here's a thing about dreams. sometimes, a dream can seem so perfect that even though you are aware of the possible imperfections you overlook them when you're just dreaming about the dream, the dream becomes your only goal, your salvation from whatever discomfort, sadness or incompleteness that you feel. then one day you'll get it and as days pass it will surprise you how it makes you feel more uneasy, lonely and empty. you wait, three, six months, and then a year and somehow you still feel lost. and you find yourself thinking, hey! isn't this the dream? or maybe it just was?

on my first anniversary with my previous job, i was this lost because i was pondering on how i can change the world through writing/editing articles on china's production industry. i got as far as two years and 10 months as an editor and i know it could have stretched only as far as the next job offer elsewhere because things just don't feel right then.

i have the same feeling with my job now. not that i am currently looking for a new job already. honestly, i couldn't ask for anything more. it's a stable job, the people are nice, the office is near my house. i should really be happy and i do think i am. but somehow i feel that i don't belong here.

now all i can think about is how ready i am for another break on another dream - that is to be a stay-home wife and mother. we'll see how i'd feel when i get this dream. hopefully this is one dream that will not just temporarily save me. maybe this is really THE dream.
